The Tandy FD501 is an external floppy disk drive for the Color Computer and it's derivatives. It includes a 5-1/4" single sided 35-track floppy drive, mounted horizontally, with room for a second drive. Each disk can hold approximately 140k. It is connected to it's controller, which plugs into the expansion port of the Color Computer and contains RS-DOS, by way of a two foot ribbon cable. Replacements for RS-DOS provided enhancements such as support for 40 and 80-track drives, wildcards, etc. Some of these replacements for RS-DOS included: A-DOS, J-DOS, MK-DOS, and DR-DOS.
