Timex-Sinclair 1500
Take the case of the Sinclair Spectrum, color it silver, and put a ZX-81 with
16k of RAM inside the case, and you have the Timex-Sinclair 1500. Even the
cutouts on the rear of the case are the same, though Timex moved the RF output
to one which is blank on the Spectrum. The 1500 fixed numerous problems that
users had with the original 1000, including the small RAM capacity and the
terrible keyboard. The 1500 has the rubber-keyed chicklet keyboard of the
Spectrum as well, so it is some improvement over the membrane keyboard of
the 1000 and the ZX-81. RAM can be expanded to a full 32k using the same
RAM expansion cartridges as those used on the ZX-81.
